Inner Horizon
a documentary directed by Annika Horn

Inner Horizon is a cinematic journey through the wild landscapes of Greenland, but also through my own inner territories.

As the daughter of Mike Horn, I grew up with exploration as a way of life. The unknown has always been part of my everyday life. Today, I set out for these extreme lands in my own turn — not to follow in my father’s footsteps, but to find my own path.

This film tells the story of my search for identity, the weight and richness of the heritage I carry, and the deep, almost instinctive connection I feel with nature. In the vastness of Greenland, I am learning to understand myself better and to define who I am, on my own terms.

THE JURY’S WORDS

Inner Horizon succeeds, with rare sincerity, in entering the intimacy of a family and conveying the spirit of adventure that connects generations. Through personal and moving archives, it paints the portrait of a father whose curiosity and courage are qualities his daughter then wishes to explore in her own way.

The story unfolds gently through family archives, then continues with an expedition — the first journey of its kind shared between father and daughter — marked by moments of tenderness, silence and mutual discovery.

The film raises questions that have no clear answers, yet remain deeply human.

87 Days in the Hell of the North Pole France

In 2019, Mike Horn and Børge Ousland completed the first crossing of the Arctic Ocean via the North Pole. Co-produced by Annika Horn, this documentary retraces an extreme 87-day expedition in the heart of the polar night, revealing the growing dangers linked to the fragility of the sea ice and the climate changes transforming the Arctic.
